ORIGINAL BIO CELLULOSE’S PRODUCTION PROCESS

Bio cellulose material:

Bio cellulose is a natural material, made of ultra fine fibers of cellulose produced by micro-organisms during the fermentation of coconut juice. Purer than the vegetable cellulose, but still very similar, the bio cellulose is free of lignin. Bio cellulose is respectful of the environment and 100 % biodegradable.

1.Coconut Water fermentation

Socri

  • Heated at 100°C for sterilization issue.
  • Cooling in plastic rack during 24hours
  • Acidification (citric acid, acetic acid) at Ph4.5, addition of sugar and Ammonium sulfate
  • Addition of Acetobacter bacteria
  • Fermentation lasts around 5 days at 30°C.
  • Harvesting after 5 days of the coco nata

2. Cleaning/Slicing step

Socri

  • Washing: Nata is washed during few hours with deionized and sterilized water. Then it is acidified again.
  • Slicing: Nata is sliced into 2 to 3 mm pieces.
  • Washing: Sliced nata can be whitened with NaOH, then acidified again.
  • Sterilization: Product is sterilized by heat.

3. Cutting step

Socri

  • Assembling with support: Two supports (non woven) are placed above and under the nata
  • Squizzing the excess water: Nata is pressed (thickness from 3 mmm to 0.15 mm).
  • Cutting: The 3 layers are cut to the needed shape.
