LIPOLYTIC ACTIVITY

Lipolysis is the process by which triglycerides are broken down, through hydrolysis, into glycerol and fatty acids which are then released into the bloodstream, whereby they are transported to other tissues and can produce other effects within the body, such as the formation of cellulite. The testing method involves the administration of glycerol released by cultures of differentiated adipocytes following treatment with the raw material/finished product, thereby assessing the ability of the product being tested to modulate lipolytic reaction.
